Old stuff, new tricks

Want to find new uses for your old stuff? Susan Smith, owner of Cheap Chic Interiors in Baldwinsville, offers the following tips:

1) Take everything out of the room. Take stock of your belongings and think of new places where those things could go.
"A lot of stuff will go back into the room, but maybe in a different place," she said.

2) Think slipcovers. They're so much cheaper than new sofas.

3) Reframe photos. It's a cheap and easy way to make your family photos look artistic.

4) Play with lighting. Paint a lamp and change that shade, and - voila - you have a new lamp.

5) Paint the walls a new color. "It's the cheapest way to change a room," she said.
